What the KSVT platform does, who sees what you file, what you can ask for about your own data, and how long records are kept.

This page explains what the Karnataka Super Village Team (KSVT) platform does, what you can expect from it, and what we ask of you when you use it. It describes how the platform actually works today.

WHO WE ARE

KSVT is an independent, citizen-led organisation. It is not a department of the Government of Karnataka, and it exercises no governmental authority. It is politically neutral and is not affiliated with any political party. We work constructively with the relevant authorities, but we cannot decide any matter on their behalf.

Filing something here is not the same as filing it with a government office.

YOUR ACCOUNT

You sign in with your mobile number and a one-time password (OTP), or with a password. Administrators with wider powers must also pass a second check using an authenticator code (TOTP) before they can act.

When your membership is approved you receive a membership number in the form KSVT-KA34-000001. It does not change, and it is never given to anyone else.

Keep your account to yourself. Do not share your OTP or your password with anyone, whoever they say they are.

WHAT YOU SHARE, AND WHO SEES IT

An issue you file publicly is visible to your village. If the matter is sensitive, you can file it as a confidential case instead. A confidential case is visible only to Super Admins, and every access to it is recorded, including attempts that were refused.

You can also make a complaint about a listed official, and you can send a confidential corruption report.

Write truthfully. What you file will be read by the people who look into it.

AADHAAR

The platform stores only the last four digits of your Aadhaar number, and those four digits are encrypted where they are stored. The full number is never stored. The last four digits are masked in the interface, and they are never written to logs, audit records or exports.

YOUR DATA IS YOURS TO ASK ABOUT

From the Member section, under Account & Safety, you can see the personal information KSVT holds about you and download a copy of it at once, ask for your account to be closed, and see which devices are signed in to your account and sign them out.

If a closure is approved, the erasure waits 30 days before it is carried out. That gap exists so you can change your mind: the request can be cancelled during that window.

HOW LONG RECORDS ARE KEPT

Audit logs are kept for 7 years. Issues are kept for 7 years. Evidence on resolved issues is kept for 5 years. Personal data on archived accounts is kept for 3 years. OTP challenges are kept for 7 days. Login attempts are kept for 90 days. File access logs are kept for 1 year.

Closing your account does not remove records that these periods still cover.

USING THE PLATFORM ON A SMALL PHONE

The whole interface is available in English and in Kannada. Every page is checked automatically at a width of 320 pixels, in both languages, so that no page has to be scrolled sideways; that is the width named by the reflow requirement in WCAG 2.2. Buttons and other controls meet the 24-pixel minimum target size in the same standard. Every page carries a skip-to-content link and uses landmark regions.

No formal accessibility audit has been carried out, so we do not claim a conformance level. If something is hard to use or hard to read, tell us. That is how it gets fixed.

REACHING US

Use the Contact page, or Support in the Member section if you are signed in. For a complaint about an official, use the complaint form on that official's page. For something you would rather not put in the open, send a confidential corruption report.

This text describes how the platform works today. It has not yet been reviewed by a qualified legal adviser, and it will be reviewed before launch.
