Privacy & Your Data

What KSVT stores, what it never stores, how to see and download your data, and how to ask for your account to be closed.

KSVT — the Karnataka Super Village Team — is an independent, citizen-led organisation. It is not a department of the Government of Karnataka, it holds no government powers, and it is not attached to any political party. This page explains in plain words what the platform keeps about you, what it never keeps, and what you can do about it.

WHAT WE KEEP WHEN YOU JOIN

You sign in with your mobile number and a one-time code (OTP), or with a password. Administrators who hold wider access must also pass a second check, using the six-digit code from an authenticator app.

The platform stores only the last four digits of your Aadhaar number. The full number is never stored. Those four digits are kept encrypted, are shown masked on screen, and are never written into logs, audit records or exports.

Every member is given a membership number in the form KSVT-KA34-000001. It stays with you, and it is never given to anyone else.

WHAT YOU CAN DO WITH YOUR OWN DATA

Open Member, then Account & Safety. From that one screen you can do three things.

See your data and download a copy. The Your data tab shows what KSVT holds about you, and Download my data makes a copy straight away: a readable page and a data file. Nobody has to approve it, only you can download it, and the files are deleted after 24 hours.

Ask for your account to be closed. Nothing is erased at the moment you ask — an administrator reviews the request first. Once a closure is approved it waits 30 days before anything is erased, so you have time to change your mind, and the request can be cancelled inside that window.

See the devices that are signed in to your account, and sign any of them out.

WHO CAN SEE WHAT YOU REPORT

An issue you file publicly can be seen by your village. If the matter is sensitive, file it as a confidential case instead. A confidential case can be opened only by KSVT Super Admins, and every time one is opened that access is written down — including attempts that were refused.

There are two further channels for difficult matters: a complaint about an official listed on the platform, and a confidential corruption report. Both are filed from inside the member area.

Choosing how a report is seen decides who can open it inside KSVT. It is not a promise about anything outside the platform, so please leave out personal details the report does not need.

HOW LONG THINGS ARE KEPT

These are the periods the platform is set to use. Audit records: 7 years. Issues: 7 years. Evidence attached to a resolved issue: 5 years. Personal data on an archived account: 3 years. One-time codes: 7 days. Login attempts: 90 days. File access records: 1 year.

READING THIS ON A SMALL PHONE

Every page is checked automatically at a width of 320 pixels, in English and in Kannada, so that no page has to be scrolled sideways. Buttons and links are checked to be at least 24 pixels across, so a finger can reach them. Every page carries a skip-to-content link and named landmark regions. The whole interface is available in English and Kannada.

No formal accessibility audit has been done, so we do not claim a conformance level. If a page is hard to read or hard to use, tell us — that is a fault we want to hear about.

IF SOMETHING LOOKS WRONG

If you believe your information has been misused, report it from Member, then Account & Safety. To reach us otherwise, use the Contact page, or Support inside the member area.

KSVT will never ask for your password or your OTP — not by phone, not by message, not on any other channel.

This page describes what the platform does today. It is still to be reviewed by a qualified adviser before launch.
