How We Work
How you join, how an issue is recorded, what KSVT keeps about you, and how long it is kept.
Karnataka Super Village Team is an independent, citizen-led organisation. It is not a department of the Government of Karnataka. It holds no governmental authority, and it is not connected to any political party. We work with the relevant authorities, but we cannot order anyone to act. This page explains, in plain words, how the platform works and what happens to what you give it.
JOINING AND SIGNING IN
You sign in with your mobile number and a one-time password (OTP), or with a password if you have set one. Members who hold privileged administrator roles must pass a second check as well, a code from an authenticator app, before they can open anything.
Once your membership is approved you are given a membership number in the form KSVT-KA34-000001. It stays yours. It is never reissued to anyone else.
WHAT WE ASK FOR, AND WHAT WE NEVER STORE
We do not store your Aadhaar number. Only the last four digits are kept, and they are encrypted where they are stored. On screen they are shown masked. They are never written into logs, into audit records, or into any export.
RAISING AN ISSUE
An issue you file publicly is visible to your village. That is the point of it. A problem written down where neighbours can see it is harder to ignore.
Some things cannot be said in the open. If a matter is sensitive, you can file it as a confidential case instead. A confidential case is visible only to Super Admins. Every time one is opened the platform records who opened it, and it records refused attempts too, so trying to look at something you are not allowed to see is itself part of the record.
There are two further channels. A complaint about a listed official is filed against that official's entry in the directory. A report of corruption is filed as a confidential report and is handled as a confidential case.
YOUR DATA STAYS YOURS
From Member, then Account & Safety, you can do three things:
Ask for a copy of the personal data KSVT holds about you. Ask for your account to be closed. See the devices signed in to your account, and sign any of them out.
An approved closure does not take effect at once. Erasure waits 30 days, so that if you change your mind there is time to say so. The request can be cancelled during that window.
HOW LONG THINGS ARE KEPT
Audit logs — 7 years. Issues — 7 years. Evidence on resolved issues — 5 years. Personal data on archived accounts — 3 years. OTP challenges — 7 days. Login attempts — 90 days. File access logs — 1 year.
READING THIS ON A SMALL PHONE
The whole interface is available in English and in Kannada, and neither is a summary of the other. Every page is checked automatically at a width of 320 pixels, narrower than most phones, in both languages, so that no page makes you scroll sideways to finish a sentence. Interactive controls meet the 24-pixel minimum target size named by WCAG 2.2, the international guideline for accessible web pages, so they can be reached with a thumb. Each page carries a skip-to-content link and marks up its landmark regions for screen readers.
No formal accessibility audit has been done, so we do not claim a conformance level. If a page is hard to use on your device, tell us. That is a fault we want to hear about.
IF SOMETHING IS WRONG
Use the Contact page, or Member, then Support, if you are signed in. If the problem is the conduct of a listed official, use the complaint form on that official's page. If it cannot safely be said in the open, use the confidential report.
This page describes how the platform works today. It is pending review by a qualified adviser before launch.
