About KSVT
An independent, citizen-led team working for stronger villages across Karnataka.
Karnataka Super Village Team is an independent, citizen-led organisation. It is not a department of the Government of Karnataka, it holds no governmental authority, and it belongs to no political party. It works alongside the relevant authorities, and it answers to the villagers who join it.
The idea behind it is ordinary. A village knows its own problems better than anybody else does. What a village usually lacks is a record: something that says a problem was raised on a particular day, that it was seen by people who live there, that somebody was asked to act, and what happened next. Without that record, a genuine complaint and a forgotten one look the same after a month.
KSVT keeps that record, and keeps it in the open.
A member reports an issue in their own village. Neighbours can see it and confirm it. It is routed to the people whose work it is, and its status is visible while it moves — not only when it is resolved. When it is closed, the reason is written down, including when the honest reason is that nothing could be done. A problem that was never solved is still worth recording truthfully.
Alongside the issues, members score their own village across the areas that decide daily life — water, roads, schools, health facilities, sanitation and the rest. Those scores build the Village Development Index. It is not an inspection carried out by outsiders. It is what the people living there say, published with the number of voters behind each score, so that a rating from four people is never mistaken for a rating from four hundred.
Everything on this platform is published in Kannada and English, because a record that a villager cannot read is not a public record.
Some things KSVT is deliberately not. It is not a government service, and filing something here is not the same as filing it with a government office. It does not campaign for any party or candidate. It does not publish anybody's personal details along with their report, and it stores as little about a member as it can — the full Aadhaar number, for instance, is never stored at all.
Membership is free, and open to any resident of a Karnataka village who is willing to report honestly and treat their neighbours with respect. What is asked in return is set out in the Code of Conduct.
This page describes how KSVT works today. As the platform grows, this text will be kept accurate rather than aspirational.
